The past 3 years have been a whirl-win of health related crisis’ for many of us, including myself. I have had multiple injuries that forced me to stop running for several months (almost a whole year). You all know that if I am not running, something is definitely wrong!
Turns out all my injuries were not related to running but were hormone and thyroid issues. YES! Inflammation is a Bitch! I gained 15 lbs overnight and felt like the walking dead for the past 3 years. Accompanying the pounds and fatigue came the hair loss and insomnia. When I say it has sucked I am not exaggerating!
I have kept a positive attitude and maintained my yoga practice along with meditation which helped but certainly did not fix the issues. I went to multiple doctors and had blood test only to be told I was not “sick enough” to intervene. REALLY!!! How freaking sick do I need to get before there is an intervention!
I started searching for solutions. Go big or go home is my personal life mantra, this was no different. I have listened to podcasts, read articles, attended webinars, read books, had consults with multiple “experts,” along with following every single person on social media who has an opinion about hormones and thyroid issues.
Three years later, I have solutions and answers! I am so excited to share with you. Furthermore, I know I can help women and men with these issues. Oh, did I mention my husband’s diabetes has been out of control along with multiple other issues! I have worked with him to address these imbalances.

It all begins in the GUT!
Ever wonder why you have a bloating or gas after you eat a meal?
How about why you don’t go to the bathroom daily?
Or simply feel foggy and exhaustion after you eat?
As we prepare for the holidays with family, stress, anxiety, and lots of yummy foods I want to give you a few tips to manage your gut issues.
-
Create a solid routine for yourself. Get up at the same time, eat on a regular schedule, and go to bed at the same time. This will help your body to know what to expect and your gut will produce the juices it needs to digest the food.
-
Scrape your tongue first thing in the morning with a copper scraper. (BEFORE YOU DRINK ANYTHING) this clears the Ama (toxins) that have accumulated overnight on the tongue. Notice if it is a white coating–this means a lot of toxins are built in your body.
-
Drink warm lime or lemon water first thing in the morning this will prompt your bowels to go!
-
Move your body–yoga, walk, stretch, meditate and connect with your body.
-
Avoid drinking cold beverages; it kills your digestive fire. You need warm or room-temp beverages to stoke the fire.
-
Listen to your body. If you are cold, drink some warm tea or warm water with lemon or lime. If you feel heavy, avoid the mashed potatoes or heavy foods. Treat with opposite to bring balance to your body.
-
Take 10 deep breathes to calm the nervous system down. Most of us get so caught up on the hamster wheel of the to-do list especially during the holidays, we forget to slow down and breathe. Remember “We get to celebrate” rather than “We have to do all this stuff.” Affirm I AM OK.
I hope these tips get you started on a path of Self-healing and bring your body to Balance. If you or someone you know is struggling with anxiety, depression, IBS, or thyroid issues and you are ready to heal, please hit the link and we can get started.
I will be leading a post Thanksgiving Cleanse that will begin November 27. You deserve to feel alive!
Namaste,
jen
BTW – I am back on the track running my heart out. I completed a 10k last weekend and felt great at the end. I am on the other side of the darkness shining a Bright Light for you to heal too!
